Dice Grips

I have experimented with different methods of holding the dice.  After I position the dice on the table, the hold I prefer is the use of the index finger and the thumb. I pick up the dice on the top as shown in this illustration.
I use as little of the index finger and the thumb as possible just to
maintain a grip.  Each person has to experiment and find what is
the best for them.

A little suggestion is to use some talc powder or chalk dust to make the fingers slippery.
This will eliminate a lot of the friction that is detrimental to throwing correctly.

This is one of my dice grips

Another grip is to have the thumb and pinky finger grip the dice
on the sides while the other three fingers are gripping the dice on the top.

Another grip is to have the thumb grip the dice on the back
while the other three fingers are gripping the dice on the top.

Some players will stack the dice one on top of the other instead of side by side.

Another grip is to hold the dice with the palm facing up ready for an underhand throw.

The object is to have the dice remain as tight together as possible.
